Stephen Moore is an IT professional who happens to have a serious passion for all things clarinet. He is principal clarinet of the Texas Mozart Festival and also performs with the Lone Star Philharmonic, Symphony Viva, SAHarmonie, the Heart of Texas Concert Band, and the Prickly Pear Clarinet Ensemble, the latter of which has been invited to perform at several internationally-attended conferences such as the ICA ClarinetFest and TMEA. Solo appearances include the Weber Clarinet Concerto No. 1 with the Heart of Texas Concert Band, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Weber’s Concertino, both with the UIW Orchestra.
Prior to moving to San Antonio in 2013, Steve was the Eb clarinetist of the El Paso Wind Symphony, bass clarinetist of the Las Cruces Symphony, and principal clarinet of the Edge of Texas Concert Band. He was a semi-finalist at the 2003 International Clarinet Association Young Artist Competition in Salt Lake City. During the day, Steve is a network engineer for Rackspace.
He studied information systems and clarinet performance at New Mexico State University and his principal teachers were Laroy Borchert, Larry Mentzer, John Nielsen, and Bradford Behn.
