Joslyn Muñoz

Clarinet

Joslyn Muñoz is a dedicated music educator with 25 years of teaching experience and a deep-rooted passion for band education. She currently serves as the Director of Bands at Zachry Middle School in Northside ISD, where she leads a thriving program known for musical excellence and student achievement.

A proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Ms. Muñoz earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree, magna cum laude, from Texas A&M University–Kingsville. She has built a legacy of success, with her bands consistently earning Sweepstakes awards under her leadership.

Ms. Muñoz is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the International Clarinet Association. She enjoys playing Bb soprano clarinet for the Prickly Pear Clarinet Ensemble and the Heart of Texas Concert Band. Her commitment to the craft and community of music education continues to inspire both her students and colleagues.

Outside of the classroom, Joslyn has been happily married for 24 years to her college sweetheart, who is also a band director at Poteet Junior High School. Together, they share a love for music and education. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, cooking, spending time outdoors, and watching movies—especially favorites like the Harry Potter series, the Alien franchise, and Star Wars.

Joslyn is also a proud fur mom to three beloved pets: Merida (named after the main character in Brave), Madison Scout (named after her favorite drum corps group), and Biscuit (because she looks just like a fresh biscuit out of the oven). Family plays a central role in her life, and she cherishes every moment spent with her 11-year-old nephew and 9-year-old niece.

As she prepares to begin her 26th year of teaching in the 2025–2026 school year, Joslyn Muñoz remains deeply committed to fostering a love of music and helping students reach their full potential through the power of band.
