Jessica Maple,
Bass Clarinet & Clarinet
Jessica Maple has lived in the San Antonio area for 16 years, coming from the suburbs of Chicago, IL originally. She is a band director in the Medina Valley ISD band programs for the past 13 years. Ms. Maple graduated with her Bachelor’s of Music Education from Illinois State University in Normal, IL and moved to SATX soon after.
After 7 years in Castroville, Jessica traveled to Yamaguchi, Japan to teach high school English for 3 years with the JET Programme and, while there, was a member of the Yamaguchi Brass Society and performed in competitions with the ensemble as well as in a related clarinet ensemble. Returning back from Japan as a mere soprano clarinet player, it was when she doubled in a community musical performance with her church that she found her love for the bass clarinet.
Since moving back to San Antonio, Jessica is a busy member of the community; volunteering with the Japan-America Society of San Antonio as their current treasurer, performing with the Heart of Texas Concert Band on soprano (upgrading to bass clarinet) and joining their Board as Secretary. Jessica will take any opportunity to perform, volunteer or run a 5K—much to the chagrin of her cat, Professor.
